    • Federal Reserve policy and Treasury yields
    • Earnings from the largest companies, particularly mega-cap technology
    • US economic data such as jobs and inflation reports
    • Market breadth and sector rotation

    US500 chart questions

What is the difference between the cash index and futures?
Futures include financing and expiry effects and trade nearly around the clock, while the cash index only updates during market hours. Prices can differ slightly.
Why are the first and last hours busy?
Many orders arrive at the open and close, so volume and volatility concentrate there. Mid-session can be calmer.
Do I need to watch earnings for US500?
Heavily weighted companies can move the whole index. Check whether a big constituent reports that day.
